2021-2022 Patriot Program
Second Grade Requirements
Welcome to the 2021-2022 Patriot Program Year! This year, projects will be placed in a bin located in each pod and any testing for memorization will be done in person or virtually. You can submit projects any time before the due date.
● In order to achieve the title of Second Grade Liberty Bell, you must complete 3 of the 5 activities listed below. The Good Deed option is mandatory. You may choose the other two.
● All projects are due by April 1, 2022. It is important that all projects are handed in on or before this due date.
● Traditionally, fifth grade Patriots who have completed the Patriot Program in grades 3, 4, and 5 earn a trip to Philadelphia. Fifth grade Patriots who have completed the program every year since kindergarten will be celebrated as six-year Patriots.
Patriot Program Activities: Second Grade Liberty Bells
1. Do a Good Deed OR Complete an Act of Kindness (REQUIRED).
(FILL OUT ATTACHED FORM ) Some examples may include donating time or goods to a charity and helping a neighbor. To submit this assignment, fill out the attached form and place in the bin in the pod.
2. (History) List the 13 colonies. On a separate sheet of paper, list the original 13 colonies in order of their founding. Next to each colony, write the date (including year) of its founding.
3. (Government) Identify the Governor

On a separate sheet of paper, identify the Governor of the state of Maryland. Write about two of his responsibilities as Governor. Use complete sentences.
(Geography) Identify Harford County Cities
With a Patriot Program committee member, identify these cities within Harford County on a map of the county:
● BelAir
● Edgewood
● Havre De Grace ● Jarrettsville
This will be a tested activity.
5. (Symbolism) Write a paragraph about the Statue of Liberty
On a separate sheet of paper, write a paragraph of 4-5 sentences about the Statue of Liberty. Be sure to include information about its location, its history, and its symbolism.
