2021-2022 Patriot Program
Third Grade Requirements
Welcome to the 2021-2022 Patriot Program Year! This year, projects will be placed in a bin located in each pod and any testing for memorization will be done in person or virtually. You can submit projects any time before the due date.
● In order to achieve the title of a Third Grade Broad Stripe, you must complete 4 of the 5 activities listed below. The Good Deed option is mandatory. You may choose the other three.
● All projects are due by April 1, 2022. It is important that all projects are handed in on or before this due date.
● Traditionally, fifth grade Patriots who have completed the Patriot Program in grades 3, 4, and 5 earn a trip to Philadelphia. Fifth grade Patriots who have completed the program every year since kindergarten will be celebrated as six-year Patriots.
Patriot Program Activities: Third Grade Broad Stripes
1. Do a Good Deed OR Complete an Act of Kindness (REQUIRED).
(FILL OUT ON ATTACHED FORM) Some examples may include donating time or goods to a charity and helping a neighbor. To submit this assignment, fill out the attached form and place in the bin in the pod.
2. (History) Research a historical event or building in Harford County.
Research a historical event or building in Harford County and write a paragraph about its importance. Your paragraph must be at least 5 sentences. Include a picture.
3. (Government) Identify a law, either state or federal, and tell why it is important.
On a separate sheet of paper, write a paragraph detailing an existing law. Tell if the law is a state or a federal law. Also, tell why the law is important. Use at least five complete sentences.
4. (Geography) Identify five Maryland counties.
With a Patriot Program committee member, identify at least five counties on a map of Maryland. This will be a tested assignment.
5. (Symbolism) Identify three symbols of Maryland.
On a separate sheet of paper, draw or paste at least three Maryland symbols. Circle one and tell how it symbolizes our great state.
