2021-2022 Patriot Program
Fifth Grade Requirements
Welcome to the 2021-2022 Patriot Program Year! This year, projects will be placed in a bin located in each pod and any testing for memorization will be done in person or virtually. You can submit projects any time before the due date.
● In order to achieve the title of a Fifth Grade Patriot, you must complete 4 of the 5 activities listed below. The Good deed option is mandatory. You may choose the other 3.
● All projects are due by April 1, 2022. It is important that all projects are handed in on or before this due date.
● Traditionally, fifth grade Patriots who have completed the Patriot Program in grades 3, 4, and 5 earn a trip to Philadelphia. Fifth grade Patriots who have completed the program every year since kindergarten will be celebrated as six-year Patriots.
Patriot Program Activities: Fifth Grade Patriots
1. Do a Good Deed OR Complete an Act of Kindness (REQUIRED).
(FILL OUT ATTACHED FORM ) Some examples may include donating time or goods to a charity and helping a neighbor. To submit this assignment, fill out the attached form and place in the bin in the pod.
2. (History) Create a history timeline.
Draw a timeline and pinpoint 5 significant events in American history. Write a brief explanation for each.
3. (Government) Research a US President.
Choose one US President to research. Write four paragraphs detailing your research. Be sure to include the impact your President had on America.
4. (Geography) Identify states on a map.
With a Patriot Program committee member, be able to identify at least 10 US states on a map. This will be a tested assignment.
5. (Symbolism) Flag Etiquette Rules
Research and write at least 10 flag etiquette rules on a separate piece of paper.
